  • Lights needed in Novak Park Area
I have been trying for the past 2 years to get some lights in the Novak Park area. I first requested a street light for the Tuia Lane curve, but that was shot down because of the expense. I fear for people walking or people walking their dogs on Tuia Lane since there are no sidewalks, and cars coming around the corner could easily hit a person or dog. I also suggested a light for the park, the parking lot, the woods behind the park - all totally dark. I also suggested lamps be mounted on the faces of the row of townhouses facing the park and woods. There are no other homes or streets so we are isolated and it is very dark. You can't see walking to or from the parking lot, you can't see what you might trip over on the sidewalk, someone may be waiting in the woods to rush behind you as you enter your house, there may be feral animals coming out of the park. I have stacks of emails with many different reasons for the need for lighting, but the Board of Directors and Regent Homes (specifically Mr. McGowan) have voted no. If you would like to help me, I would really appreciate it. There is no reason for this area to be ignored and literally left in the dark. Submitted 2/13/10.
  • Avon Rep
    Does anyone sell Avon here?
  • Watching Over the Neighborhood
I wanted to bring to attention that we have had some people going door to door soliciting in our neighborhood. I live on Avery Park Dr. and called the Non-emergency Metro Police line that was quoted in our neighborhood newsletter recently. I just want everyone to know that I think these particular 'so -called' solicitors were looking to see who is home and is not during the day. I did not answer my door, but motioned from my window to let the two men know that I was not interested. Even after they saw me, they stayed in front of my home checking it out for a couple of moments before leaving, and then proceeded to go door to door down my street. These men were not dressed up and were definitely not professional at all. Over an hour later I called the metro police again, and the officers had not checked off coming to our neighborhood yet. I saw the men going down Alteras Dr. later. When I approached them with my dogs and let one of them know that soliciting is not allowed in our neighborhood, they said , 'really?'...and kept on going door to door. Just a cautionary message...please keep an eye out, and please keep reporting these incidents to the police. Hopefully if they get stopped enough by the cops, they will stop coming to our part of town.

  • As many of you know I submitted an idea for a dog park and got many great responses and support. In our newest update from leslie it was asked if someone would be a point person and I would love to start heading up this idea to be put into action! I have a lot of great ideas and my husband also has his own business in remodeling/construction so we are already constructing ideas and layouts to present if we get the chance to meet with HOA! I also wwould love to hear from anyone who would lend support through this process! Please email me at bryana.andrews@vanderbilt.edu if you have any ideas, support, or fundraising ideas! Lets get this great idea to work and break some dirt soon!
  • Dog Park/5k
I think a dog park in Lenox Village would be a great idea. I would go there everyday with my dog. I know a Lenox Village 5k idea has been tossed around, why not use the proceeds from the 5k to go towards the dog park?
  • Two requests
I have asked the property management folks once to look into a little problem. Has anyone else noticed birds in the vents where the dryer's blow out? This could cause a huge problem. They build nests and could catch fire if it gets too hot. If anyone else has seen this I encourage you to write or call to see if anything can be done.

Also, there is very much a need for another street light at the end of Althorp Way if anything can be done about that. The end closest to Lord's Chapel. VERY dark at night.
  • Summer Fun
Just wanted to tell everyone about an amazing kickboxing class I took at the lifestyle center at Lenox Village.
Christina Clawson is some kind of Super trainer and is teaching a kickboxing class Monday and Wednesday nights at Six o'clock. She lives in the area and also whips people in shape at another gym.
I had great results quickly so I have to urge everyone interested in a ready for summer body to get their butts over there.

    Cheers,
    Danielle
  • Get an Alarm! Take the valuables out of your car now!
At the Silo self storage across from Walmart on the Hill a truck was stolen in broad daylight With $30-40K in lawn equipment. Later that day the same thieves broke into 5 motorhomes and 12 trailers they just popped the locks right off. I was a victim they got about $300 and change worth of my stuff. Well this past Sunday my van was parked under our deck and while we were home they managed to break the lock on the van with a hammer and screwriver. They got me for $2500 in stuff. I kept it there because it was better than Silo or so I thought. When the police came he told me that over 125 break ins in area code 37211 happened last week. And that 26 of those were reported South of the redlight at John Bells birthplace. And 15 of those here in Lenox. You need to watch for people who don't belong here and if they don't call the police. Don't try and play Clint Eastwood like the guy who lives in front of the new apartments on Althorp on the corner house right after the first public alley. He held me and my wife and a friend at gunpoint because he is a complete idiot who does not need to have a gun beware of your kids and your wife around his home and yes sir I did file charges against you because you are OUT OF CONTROL!
  • Does anyone else wonder why we have no recycling efforts in our otherwise great community? I'm amazed at how much we throw away that is recyclable- especially after having lived in communities that do recycle in the past. Our contracted waste provider is Allied Waste Services (address below).
Click here to view Aliied Waste website
If you look at their website they don't appear to be a 'green' company at all which surprises me in this day and age. They operate 300 trash companies in 37 states and have 10 million people using their service yet they recycle in on 53 locations?

I DID find a location guide for recycling in our area and you can find them here: Click here to view these locations
Perhaps our management company might even consider placing a recycling area within our community where we can all place our glass, plastics and paper. Just a thought-
  • UPS/FEDEX Deliveries
Someone is stealing packages left at the front doors from UPS/FEDEX. My package was stolen within 30 min of delivery. I live at the corner of Althorp & Lords Chapel and my front door is really exposed. I would not be surprised if they are following trucks around the Village to see when a package is left behind, the trucks are always here the same times every day. I signed my delivery slip ahead of time saying it was ok to drop off; I won’t be doing that anymore. I emailed Kathy at HOA asking her to send out an email to everyone warning the Villagers not to have packages delivered without a signature, I guess she did not agree.
  • Dog Park--Excellent idea!
I, too, agree that a dog park would be an EXCELLENT addition to Lenox Village. As many people as we see walking dogs around the neighborhood (me being one of them), it would be great to have a single space to converge..

And what a draw for potential Lenox Village buyers!
  • Dog Park is a GREAT idea!!
I totally agree that a dog park is a FABULOUS idea for the neighborhood! With the great number of dogs in Lenox Village, this would be put to good use. It is definitely also a draw for residents looking to purchase in the neighborhood. I know I would help raise money for this!
  • Reputable Dog Sitter
I know we have seen some advertisements in the village. Anyone know some to recommend? please email me if you do. thanks in advance iakona68@gmail.com
  • Mail Box Drop for US Post Office
Please it would it be such a help to put a US post office drop box by the fed ex box in the village. I use the fed ex one all the time and would use the US post office one even more.
    Thanks for your time!
  • Dog Park?
I think it would be such a great idea to open up a dog park here! There are so many dogs here and it would be such a bonus to home buyers as well to have one! There is enough land to put one and since dog parks do not make money on there on rather ask for donations to build one or something! I know so many people would benefit from it and would love to see one built especially with all these new condos being built and knowing how many dogs will be in them!
  • Robbery
Not sure if anyone else experienced a robbery in the neighborhood recently - but some things were stolen from our vehicle parked in our parking spot. It seems to be youth related items but we filed a report nonetheless. It is totally unacceptable for any type of crime in our neighborhood - let alone a petty kind. Let's keep our eyes opened for theives and be safe!
  • The home is $169,500 and the seller is willing to offer $5,000 towards a price reduction, closing costs, warranty or any combination not to exceed $5,000, or the current price of $169,500 including the furnishings listed below:
    • Sofa and Love Seat in Living Room ($975 value)
    • Sofa Table in Living Room ($300)
    • Coffee Table and Side Table in Living Room ($600 value)
    • TV and TV Stand in Living Room ($850 value)
    • Bookshelf in Living Room ($400 value)
    • Dining Room Table and 6 Chairs ($3000 value)

    • Outdoor Patio Table, Umbrella and 4 Chairs ($450 value)
    • Two Rocking Chairs on Front Porch ($150 value)
    • Whirlpool Washer and Dryer ($1000 value)

If you are concerned about purchasing a home, the seller would even be willing to discuss renting/leasing or a lease to own option.

  • It's not easy being green here in the Village.
I wanted to let others know that the recycling drop-off at the Walmart in Nipper's Corner is no longer available. The closest drop-off is the Elysian Fields Kroger parking lot near Nolensville and Harding. This is not the safest area, but our only 24 hr option. Granberry will have extended hrs, Fri-Sun 9am-12pm, but this is only temporary. I have called the city and they are looking for a new location for a drop-off center to replace Nipper's Corner. There is no time line for the replacement center. This is very discouraging. Does anyone have any info, names, phone numbers or email addresses to help establish a recycling system for our neighborhood.
  • THIEFS!!!
Please be aware that there are random cars driving at night stalking out your cars! They usually hit Sunday night when everyone is getting ready for bed. They busted into both our vehicles both on a sunday night. They busted the truck window out completely and stole things and my husband heard them and chased them down and got their license plate and we pressed charges but since we couldn't get a complete look at both thiefs we could not press charges and get our money back for damages and stolen items!! They also stole our radio out of our car! There has been so many break ins to homes including our sisters who lived down the street which in broad daylight broke through her garage and went upstairs and ripped the TV off her wall!! This is ridiculous! We even have a security cop who monitors at night but this still continues to happen!! Please if you see any unfamiliar car or anything call it in!! It might save soemone thousands of dollars!! We really need to get to the Lenox Village committee or something and put our voice out there to put more lights out on the streets and cameras!
  • Alabaster Box
Does anyone know what happened to the Alabaster Box? I enjoyed shopping there before Christmas and I was stopping by there the other day and it was empty. It was right next door to the Village Peddler.
  • Lost Cat
Lost Cat! Black and White Mane Coon. About 20 pounds. If found please call 615-686-3709.
  • Theft
I have been reading about cars being broken into and I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced their home being robbed, but I live in the Town Center Condos in the front and yesterday my neighbor went for a run, and when he came back, his door had been pried open and his money and walet was gone.
A few weeks ago I received a phone call from a blocked number and it was someone that I didn't know asking me if I was home by myself and then when I woke up the next morning, there was something broken off in my key hole and I could not unlock my door from the outside after bringing my dog back inside.

Be on your guard and alyways use your deadbolt.
  • Blu Fig ?
Anybody know if that new Mediterranean Restaurant by Bricks cafe is good? It's called Blu Fig which is different. I'm glad to have something other than pizza, asian, and mexican food near the neighborhood :)

  • Birds nesting in vents
Call the HOA. I too had a problem with birds nesting in my vents. They sent someone out and added a screen over the vent to keep them from coming back again next spring.

  • BOBCAT IN NEIGHBORHOOD!!
Please be aware! A bobcat came up on my deck last night ( I live on Lyman Lane), and attacked my cat. I ran the bobcat off, but unfortunately my cat of 13 years suffered injuries too severe to survive. We are devastated. Please keep your animals in at night and keep a very close watch on your small children. This thing was huge, and did not appear to be very afraid. My deck is very high up off the ground, and he still came up to attack my cat right at back doorstep. This was his second visit. I've also seen them crossing Bluff Road in the morning on the way to work. So, please be on the look-out, and be careful.

  • Car Break Ins
3 cars were broken into last night on Dracut Lane in the owners driveway. All cars had personal items in view. Was told by the LSI person another car had been hit by Meenchies in the front of the village. Be on Alert and make sure you don't leave anything out in view in your car.
  • NOVAK pARK LIGHTING
It took me three years of hard work, but I finally convinced Mr. McGowan and the Board that we needed lights here around Novak Park, the woods and the curve on Tuia Lane for safety and security. They agreed to install a fixture on MY building, attached to MY electricity, so I hope everyone is enjoying what I worked so hard to get for all the neighbors in the area, and ended up not only doing all the work, but also having to pay for the electricity myself. Don't mean to sound sarcastic - I really mean it - but I DO want you all to know it was all my work and my electric bill that is providing some safety and security down in this neglected corner of Lenox Village. It was NOT the work or monthly bill of your Home Owner's Assoc. Fee, nor did the Builder pay for it. They did provide the fixture and the installation, tho. Barbara Allison 8/12/10.
  • Vandals/Thieves
We have now had a THIRD incident with crime in this neighborhood. We had a car theft (it was found days later), a car vandalism that cost over $1500 to fix and recently someone tried to kick in our back door.
We didn't even bother calling the cops on the last incident. Why bother?
We're moving really soon and can't wait to get the hell out of this neighborhood. You'd think with the exploding amount of petty crime, we'd at least have more cops patrolling the area. You'd think....
